Golden Gate Bridge: The iconic Golden Gate bridge is known worldwide as San Francisco’s most famous landmark. When it was built in the mid-1930s, it was the longest suspension bridge in the world. Measuring almost 2 miles and standing 4,200 feet above the bay, the bridge is most often seen from the road, but is best enjoyed on foot. Island of Alcatraz: The notorious Alcatraz Prison, sow inactive, is located on the island of Alcatraz. Visitors can reach Alcatraz by ferry from Fisherman’s Wharf, and take a guided tour of the notorious prison. Visit the island’s official website for more information.
